We’re back in Vuda Marina. This time we’re in the inner basin which means dealing with the tides and working out how to get on/off the boat. We can’t go bows in, which is the simplest way due to our bowsprit. So we back in, and then have to use the plank. This time we found a longer plank, so its not as scary as when I did it in 2019. Then, at low tide, the plank was very steep, and very worrying. Now its just a question of balance.

The inner basin was the original part. The outer basin is improving - it has shore power and water now (since our June visit). The inner basin is a great hurricane hole - they can drag a big barrier across the entrance to stop the worst of any surges getting in. The boats all attach their anchor chain to a huge weight in the centre, and move away from the edges. Its probably as safe a berth in the water as you’ll find.
We won’t be here for cyclone season though. We’re just here to wash the boat, do plenty of laundry and pick up Bryan and Sammie who are joining for a week or so.
