We dropped the mooring at 6am and headed out of the creek. There was no wind (as expected) and we motored down the peninsula and headed south at the end. Within the hour we were sailing under full main and screecher.
The wind eased and went aft, then picked up a bit and came forward. Never more than about 11 knots though. The sea was flat, it really was champagne sailing conditions (so we risked the drone!).

As we passed Koro Island, the wind increased and started to turn SE. This was expected - we furled away the screecher and put out the genoa. Now we were sailing in the low 8s. This is a bit of an issue, as Suva is a bit awkward for a night arrival, and that speed put us arriving around 1am.
The harbour has plenty of wrecked ships and other nasties to avoid. I have a track from my last visit, and we do have moon until around 4am - so we’ll see how we go. Given the forecast is for lights winds, and once passed Wakaya we turn more downwind, I think we’ll probably be arriving closer to dawn anyway.
