Lunch

We moved from the anchorage we used when we arrived, to be nearer the village as Soki and Ba were coming for lunch. The village anchorage is quite nice, certainly very protected in almost all winds. In the past, this was where most boats came at least for their first nights so they could do their sevusevu at the village before heading out to enjoy the atoll. With bigger outboards though, more boats like to anchor at the sandspit for the nice breeze and then dinghy over to the landing.

You can see the landing behind us, and the village in the distance. We had the anchorage to ourselves.

Looking the other way, its the beautiful undercut limestone islands. We paddleboarded around them in the shallows - very pretty indeed.

Soki was very late for lunch (Fiji time), and Ba didn’t make it at all. He brought a beautifully prepared and very tasty lobster dish. Alas, we were so hungry by that point, I forgot to take photos! I’d made bread in the morning (my best ever I think!) and Nina made meatballs and pasta, along with cinnamon buns. We sent plenty of leftovers back with Soki - hopefully Ba got some and they didn’t get eaten on the way over the hill :) We will visit with Soki and Ba again before we leave Fulaga, and probably before that too.

Today we’re off to explore a bit more of the atoll and find some nice anchorages some of which Nina has been to before, some of which we can just see on the satellite charts could be quite good. We have the trades for a few more days but early next week we lose the wind and get a bit of rain. With that will come some N and NE winds.
